Two documents pertaining to Colonel (later General) M.(organ) H. Chrysler, 2nd New York Veteran Cavalry, Commanding 4th Cavalry Brigade.
1. Headquarters, 19th Army Corps, Morganzia, La., July 29th, 1864:
"...Leave of absence for twenty days based on Surgeons Certificate with permission to go beyond the Department, is granted Colonel M. H. Chrysler 2nd New York Veteran Cavalry, Commanding 4th Cavalry Brigade. On the recommendation of the Medical Director, permission is also granted to take with him Private William Allan Co. "A" of his regiment as nurse..."

2. Surgion's recommendation with Notary Public's attestment as to John L. Perry being physician surgeon in good regular standing, Sarasota Springs, Sept 1st, 1864.
"...M H. Chrysler Colonel 2nd Veteran New York Cavalry having applied for a certificate, on which to grant an application for extension of leave of absence. I do hereby certify that I have carefully examined said officer and find him suffering from the effects of a gunshot wound through the chest, right side and that in consequence thereof he is unfit for duty and unable to travel without serious injury...John L. Perry, MD."
