Confederate soldier's letter, 1 page, 8vo., Fort Fisher, 10/21/64. Samuel M. Hinson, (Batty. E, 2nd North Carolina Light Artillery) writes to his father pertaining to being sick but "on the mend", fever remains, hopes for a visit from his father, etc.

Hinson died from typhoid fever shortly after writing this letter on 11/2/64 at the Wilmington General Hospital No. 5. He would have been mustered out only 12 days later.

Very Fine.
