Young's Brigade, Hampton's Division, Army of Northern Virginia soldier's letter, 3 pages, 8vo., Columbia (SC), May 5th, 1864. J. L. Conley (Co. A, 7th Georgia Cavalry) writes to his father pertaining to unit's trip to Richmond (allowed 10-days to go 30-40 miles per day), clothes, body lice, fight between Genls. Lee and Grant in Virginia, to be decisive battle of the war, etc. Conley ends his letter with:

"... Direct your letters to me Co. "A" 7th G.C. Young's Brigade Hampton's Division Army No. Va.

A dispatch just received to hurry the troops forward."

Some aging, otherwise very fine.
