Partly Printed Confederate Document Signed, "Confederate States Army at Wilmington, N.C.", 1 page, 8vo., oblong, August 20th, 1864 pertaining to peanut oil delivered to Lt. C.B. Denson.

The document is signed by William M. James as Captain & Chief Engineer, who would be laying torpedoes in the Cape Fear River to obstruct the U.S. Navy in its assault on Fort Fisher a few months later.

Claudius B. Denson served in Co. E, 20th North Carolina Infantry from 4/27/61 to 4/26/62, and later in Co. A, 2nd Confederate Engineer Troops

Folds, otherwise very fine.
