Thomas C. Devin (1822-78), Colonel of the 6th New York Cavalry, nicknamed the "2nd Ira Harris Guards", Brigadier General, USA (NY). Participated at the Maryland campaign of 1862, the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Kilpatrick's raid on Richmond, Winchester, Fisher's Hill, Cedar Creek, and the Appomattox campaign. At the Battle of Gettysburg, Devin's brigade served in Brig. General John Buford's cavalry division that begun the battle on July 1, 1863.
