Soldier's Letter, 4 pages, 8vo., Front Royal (Virginia), June 10th, 1862. Edwin F. Morris (Co. D, 13th Massachusetts Infantry, killed 8/30/62 at 2nd Bull Run) writes pertaining to "Stonewall" Jackson's 1862 valley campaign, Cross Keys & Port Republic, VA.

"...Shields and Fremont fought with and captured five cannon from Jackson yesterday near Newmarket he was driven this way. Less than one week ago Jackson and his whole command could have been captured with ease. He was in Strasburg..."
