Soldier's Letter, 4 pages, 8vo., Signal Hill (Virginia), Dec. 18th, 1864. Oliver Charles "Charlie" Benton (17th New York Light Artillery "Orleans Battery") writes his wife Cora pertaining to the skirmishes at Fort Holly and Signal Hill on December 10th, 1864 (Petersburg campaign):

"...One Corps of Longstreet came upon our cavalry pickets on Saturday  morning (the 10th) and captured some of them, and still driving in our pickets and skirmishes all day until about 3 o'clock...".
