Union soldier's letter, 3 pages, 8vo., on patriotic stationery "U.S. Capitol" Headquarters 2nd Regt. Vol. , Co.G. Greenlief C. Rogers (Co. D, 2nd Maine Infantry, also served in 31st Maine Infantry) writes:
"...we expect to fight every day.. we will give them hell before long...this war will last long...We live first rate now. I am getting fat my whiskers...I will get my picture taken soon... G. C. Rogers, Co. D., 2md Maine Reg. Vol. Washington D.C."
