Soldier's Letter, 1 1/2 pages, Fort Fisher, North Carolina, Feb. 23rd, 1865. George W. Parseley (Co. B, 4th New Hampshire Infantry, drowned 6/8/65 at Steamer "Admiral DuPont") writes to his father form occupied Fort Fisher:

"...Our troops are in Wilmington. I have not been with the Regt. for two weeks but I am going to join them tomorrow morning. I have not heard from you for a long time & I should like to know why you dont write more often than you do. I shall write to you again as soon as I get to Wilmington. I hope I shall be able to send you some money in a few days. I dont know anything about Darious I have not seen him since our troops commenced to advance...George W. Parseley".

Very fine in legible pencil. Comes with the original postally used cover postmarked New Bern, N.C. , Mar. 7th, 1865.
