Confederate Soldier's Letter, 1 1/3 pages, 4to., Camp Jackson, Wytheville, Va. Dec. 7th/ 62. Allen T. Howery (54th Virginia Infantry) writes to his friend pertaining to being liable to freeze due to the cold weather, hope of going home, visit of fellow soldiers including from 21st Virginia Cavalry, and need to close due to the cold weather.

"...I will mention some of the boys that have been out to see us. Capt. Dolyns, LT. Helms, Lt. Kitterman, E.D. Williams & A. Kitterman (Aaron Kitterman, 21st Virginia Cavalry) was out last week. We had nice time. John Kitterman (54th Virginia Infantry) is well and looks best as ever...A.T. Howery"

Some aging, a few edge nicks and a small hole, which does not affect the writing, otherwise dark ink. Fine.
