Autograph Letter Signed (ALS), 1 page, 4to., Germantown, Pa., 4/14/91.

"Genl. Henry M. Cist

Cincinnati, O.

My dear General,

Your note of inquiry bearing date Mch 3rd came to hand last... and the pamphlet in Chickamauga National Park, is just received, for which I beg leave to return my respectful and cordial thanks.

Your request awakens unpleasant memories. It recalls the regimental (brief) connection with me who was unworthy to wear the uniform of either the Blue or the Gray.

James Wilson, Capt of Co. A 2d Regt. N.J.V. (New Jersey Volunteers) was promoted Major 9th Regt. N.J.V. Dec. 3d 61; Lieut. Col. via Heckman promoted; and resigned by request  and the good of the service, Nov.17'62.

He died in Elizabeth, N.J. several years ago.

Very truly yours

C.A.Heckman"
