Document Signed (DS), 1 page, 4to., Confederate States of America, War Department, Richmond, October 13th, 1862 as Secretary of War pertaining to commission for an engineer (R. P. Rowley) as 1st Lieutenant to report to Col. Gilmer, Chief Engineer Bureau.

Randolph was the son of Martha Jefferson Randolph, the daughter of U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Mann Randolph Jr., a descendant of Pocahontas and John Rolfe's son, Thomas Rolfe.
